Aquinnah Library Speaker Series at Old Town Hall--Duncan Caldwell On Ancient Egyptian Symbols

Tuesday, July 24, 2012 - 17:00 - 18:15

Duncan Caldwell-- "The Saharan Origins of Ancient Egyptian Royal Symbols"

Duncan’s talk will discuss that many of the symbols which became the prerogative of royalty in ancient Egypt around 5000 years ago came from 3500 km away after a population retraced their ancestors' steps across the Sahara as it became a desert. The idea that the Horus / Osiris cycle actually memorializes a real exodus and that there is evidence to support the outrageous proposition is so new that it will be of interest.

Duncan has been on the vanguard of important archaeological conservation efforts in Europe and Africa.Hi lives in Paris and Aquinnah.

This program is free and refreshments will be served.
