COVID-19 update #17

vaccinations are scheduled online - The previous covid vaccination update included a phone number for the MV Hospital. Please do not use this phone number to schedule a vaccination appointment. I apologize for any trouble and frustration caused by posting this misinformation. After a resident notified us, I called the number and figured out it’s not really a call center, but a recording that instructs you to go to the hospital’s website: mvhospital.org/patients_and_visitor/covid-19-updates/

council on aging – For those who are 60 years of age or older, you can call the Council on Aging for assistance with scheduling a vaccination appointment at the MV Hospital: 508-693-2896

vaccinations at the MVH - Your ability to schedule an appointment is as good as anyone else’s. Some residents had luck getting an appointment at the MVH - currently the only vaccine site on the Island. Appointments are booked online and scheduled weekly. New openings for the week start on Saturdays
at 8:00 am: Ready, set, click: mvhospital.org/patients_and_visitor/covid-19-updates/

vaccinations off-Island - Some residents got vaccinated off-Island. If you’re interested, there’s a list of locations available to all eligible people statewide: mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-vaccination-locations

cases – The number of COVID-19 cases has decreased significantly across the nation and in MA.

reopening - Governor Baker announced that MA will advance to Step 2 of Phase 3 on March 1; Phase 4 is planned to start March 22.

effective March 1 for all cities and towns:

• Indoor performance venues such as concert halls, theaters, and other indoor performance spaces will be allowed to reopen at 50% capacity with no more than 500 people.

• Indoor recreational activities with greater potential for contact (laser tag, roller skating, trampolines, obstacle courses) will be allowed to reopen at 50% capacity.

• Capacity limits across all previously limited sectors will be raised to 50% and exclude employees:
