Aquinnah Playground Design Day!

Dear Aquinnah friends,

Exciting news: we are designing a new playground for town children on the land behind town hall!  This is part of our new Aquinnah Village Design plan the town underwent last year.  We hope you will join us to participate in this next stage of the design process, to really figure out what we want our town playground to be like.  The design process will be led by the true experts: our town children.

On Saturday, March 13th, Jim Houghton, Playground Designer from Leathers and Associates, will lead us in a community Playground Design Day, all held over Zoom.  

At 9:30 and 10:30 in the morning, Jim will meet with town children to hear their hopes and dreams for the playground.  After those meetings, he will spend the day working on a proposed schematic design for our new playground based on the childrens' ideas - a first-draft map of the new playground.  Then at 6pm, Jim will reveal the design and give everyone a virtual tour of the playground and what is in it.

If you have Aquinnah children in your lives, please encourage them to participate in either one of the Zoom meetings that morning.  They can prepare for the meeting by filling out the attached Design Form with their drawings and ideas of what they hope our playground can look like, include, and feel like.  They should bring copies of their drawings to the Zoom on Saturday morning, and please email a copy of their design to nolihoye@gmail.com.

All grown-ups: We hope as many town residents as possible will tune in for the design reveal on Saturday evening at 6pm to check out the draft design, share your feedback, and talk about next steps in this process.  We'd love your ideas and your help in moving this project forward.
